Green Party

Our time in Government has been a challenging and steep learning curve but my colleagues entered government in 2007 knowing they could make a positive difference to the long term vision for Ireland’s future. I am very proud of many of these achievements and you can read more about these developments by clicking here.

Our decision to leave Government was a reflection of the people’s desire for a government with a fresh mandate. The Green Party is an organisation that is democratic right to our very core and our call for an election date to be named in January 2011 aims to restore to the Irish people the sense of ownership and engagement with politics that so many have lost over the past decade.

Founded in 1981, the Green Party will turn 30 next year. Still a new political force it attracted me because it gets the basics right. A healthy environment supports a sustainable economy which pays for a caring society. This young political movement still have so much to offer and deliver for the Irish people.
