Dearey, “Curious” about Adams

Sen. Mark Dearey today responded to the comments of Martin McGuinness on last Friday night’s Late Late Show when he said he didn’t think “the people of West Belfast are that curious about whether or not Gerry Adams was in the IRA or not.”

“The people of West Belfast are of course entitled to their own views on this matter.

But I myself am more than “curious” and I daresay most constituents in Louth and East Meath are “curious” too”, explained Dearey.

“As a Louth man born and reared I remember the spectre of the IRA hanging over our county. I know the damage the Troubles did to the development of the county and in particular to Dundalk, something we are still getting over.”

Dearey concluded: “It follows that anyone putting themselves forward for election with a question mark over their involvement in the IRA, should clarify their position to allow people to make an informed decision.”
