Dearey welcomes fund for small enterprises

Green Party Enterprise Spokesman, Senator Mark Dearey has welcomed the announcement that Louth County Enterprise Board is to receive €44,000 to fund small enterprises round the county, creating 9 jobs and Meath County Enterprise Board is to receive €40,000 which will create 11 new jobs.

County Enterprise Boards support micro-enterprises employing 10 or fewer workers in the start-up and expansion phases. The extra funding announced today is designed to support local enterprise in cities, towns and villages across the country.

"While recognising that the money is relatively small", Senator Dearey explained, "Louth County Enterprise Board were asked what extra capital they could use and pay out this year and what job numbers they would estimate against that spending. The figures are based on what projects and activities could be advanced this year. I hope the board continues to get the support it deserves and needs to encourage entrepreneurship in Louth. The Enterprise Boards have an absolutely critical role in moving us away from being an economy that was reliant on construction and back to what we did well before, which is develop smart products for trading with the rest of the world. Their recent Baltray Conference showcased just how effective an Enterprise Board can be when the right project comes their way and I commend them for it".
